Must be an issue with the checker itself. I checked tap water and it too tests at zero with both old and new reagents

There might not be phosphate in your tap water. Our Boston MWRA water had less than 0.01 ppm at one point in time that I have data for, and on your checker, that could read anywhere from 0.00 to 0.05 ppm.

Not that I want to add phosphate to my system but I would like to know if this thing still works properly. I'm currently running a turf algae scrubber which has been running since day one and have had detectable phosphate in the past. Also have Abouy 1 cup of GFO in a reactor that hasn't been switched out in a month and a half.

Well, you can buy something like Seachem Flourish which is a phosphate additive, and add a little to some tank water.

It has been a long while since I posted in this thread but my checker still gives me 0.00 readings every single week. Question why I even use it every Sunday I test.

The 736 meter is a little better at reading in the -0- range. I get 0 sometimes using the 736 meter but not always......
