Reef Octopus HOB Skimmer behavior
I had this skimmer RO BH-1000 for 4 days now and ever since I installed it I saw dark colored skimmate...
When I was doing my research on skimmers they said it will be a 1-4 weeks period before the skimmer will start working. If I clean the cup it takes about 40 min to start collecting again. I am also dosing vodka (0.5 ml/day) and the tank is 5 weeks old. On Salifert test kit I am getting a reading of 2.5 ppm NO3 and <0.03 PO4. Visually, the water is crystal clear. My question is: Am I doing something wrong or skimmers suppose to collect right when you install them? |
