return pump/chiller relocation question.
Firts i have 72 gallon mix reef bow front reef tank ,i have the jebao dc 9000 for the return and for my chiller that it is a resun 650(1/4 hp) beside my aquarium,right now im using the return pump in the 4 speed wit a T and a valve to control the chiller input(3/4) open ,and the chiller output to the display,the other part of the return is fully open to the display, my question is i want to take out my chiiler to outside of my house that it is about 10 feet away form the display and sump(below the display)the piping is almost straight without any increased in elevation,and a few 90 degrees elbows,the question is can i use my current dc pump? ,if not what do you consider it could work?

First of all, I think it is a very good idea to locate the chiller outside, particularly based on the weather where you live. I'm in a colder climate, but I always kept mine outside during the Summer (took it offline and brought it inside for the winter though). I wouldn't think what you propose would make all that much difference to the net flow from your pump (though I have no personal experience with the DC pumps). Gravity is the flow killer, though too many elbows don't help. If doable, you may want to consider using flex PVC - no sharp turns!

I did exactly what you're wanting to do a few years ago. It went about 10-15' outside with (4) 90 degree angles. I did get a second smaller pump and it worked well. I think you'll be much happier if you get that second pump. The only difference is I did it with a 110 gallon and the water had to travel about 8' up to the tank from the sump.
