Question on seeding tank

I have a 30 gallon in the middle of a cycle. High ammonia nitrite and nitrate. I just got a large peice of live rock. Will adding that to my tank kill the bacteria? Or help it? Do I just drop it in?
Thanks.

What else do you have going in the tank? Is the liverock "cured"? If it's cured, and If there isn't any livestock yet then by all means drop it, it's just going to be part of the cycling.

Yes it is cured. I have dry sand and about 20lbs of tonga. No livestock.
Great, I will just drop it in. Thanks for the advise.

I see lots of life on the rock. Will the high nitrate and ammonia kill all the worms and things I see?

What is the numbers exactly? How have they been changing? It's important to know all that to identify what's the best course of action.

Though if it is cured, it should be fine.

I will get the numbers.
I actually just moved the seed rock to my cycled tank because I found a bristle statfish in it!!! I didn't want to to die. Did I do the right thing?

Check your ammonia level and post here. I'm a noob, but if its up around 5, you will probably want to do a water change.

I seem to recall thats a (arguably??) harmful level. But, post the result and someone more knowledgeable than I will likely check in.
