Had one for over a year, solid build and nice programming options.
There are many pics and info on that thread.
You can also find videos on youtube about the light.
Just remember to buy a fixture 1' shorter than the length of your tank.

I am setting up a 300 marineland dd wich is 72x36x27. It will have 2 black centerbraces so instead of doing 1 6ft fisture I think 3 separate 1ft woukd be better right

I just purchased a 3ft Illumina SR-260 for over my 4ft 120gal tank upgrade. The tank's trim has a center brace that is about three inches wide. And I was wondering how it would affect the light also.

And from what I see, there is no shadowing visible on the sand bed. (I'm hoping to transfer my 45gal into the 120gal this weekend.) So I can update this thread when the transfer is complete as to how the light looks over the reef. Possible pics also.
Since the fixture doesn't use any lenses, the light spreads out in a very nice blend over the tank.

I think going with the 5ft fixture will also be easier to program the lighting schedule as you're only dealing with the one fixture.
The lighting program is absolutely incredible. Make sure you buy the V-stick!

Good luck.

No. You would just need one V-link unit.

When you open the program, it asks you which fixture you would like to program and you verify that by pushing a button on that fixture.
So with three fixtures, you would end up programming them individually.
Which by the way in the expert mode of programming, I believe you can program each LED module independently if you're looking for some really interesting effects.

I've had the light fixture running for the past week or so, and the lunar cycle is pretty incredible. The moon lights pass from the east to west with only one or two modules being lit at a time. And since we are now experiencing the new moon phase, there are no moon lights turning on at night. Pretty cool.

Those light are definitely built like tanks.
Very solid and beefy. Just one large heat sink. Since my daylight intensity is set very low to acclimate the corals from the other tank, I don't think the fans have turned on at all. And when I turned the fans on to listen to them, you heard nothing.

I was considering until...

I was considering the vertex. Some things that swayed me away from buying them and going with Pacific sun instead:

Add ons (vlink, extra UV, red, green LEDs) all cost money on top of an already expensive fixture.

I have not found one spectral graph of what the vertex puts out (420nm - 700nm) while there are many references to spectral output for other fixtures.

you buy a fixture to fit your tank (4ft tank - then buy a 3 ft fixture). If you were to ever upgrade your tank - you need a new fixture.

Pacific Suns are the same way in their hyperion models - however - the triton fixtures are module with master and slave units.

I would say the only neat feature provided by vertex is the lighting effects that can be applied across the fixture. Make the decision now though - do you want neat effects that you'll use occasionally or to show it off?

I like the broader coverage of the mitras over the illumina, the 9 LED colors make a much nicer looking light output - ive got mine dialled in to look about a phoenix 14k with the illumina i could never get that, can do all the same fancy stuff on both lights.

BUT...my corals and fish look much nicer under my Mitras, i have pink and red i never saw under the illumina. I see the new multi-color pads are coming out now but was too late for me to consider waiting and like mentioned above an additional cost the the light.

Pac Sun Triton OR Hyperion lamps produce light with the intensity and color of your 20k halides. Lack of optics or lenses gives safe, natural and even coverage and distribution.

need help! Master/slave setting !

Hi everyone!
Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I have a 40gal breeder mixed reef with 2 vertex illumine 260 12" units. So yes I have 2 separate 12" illumina units just to be clear. I have been trying to set the master slave function to have one unit dictate what the other does and have all settings in sync like dusk and dawn and lightning etc.

I've searched and searched for hours trying to find the answer online but no results. The best I could find were directions from Jamie at Vertex who said to set the slave unit first then set the master unit last. I've done this numerous times in numerous ways but have had no success.

However I had lucked out once and got it set so that I could test the lightning effect on the master unit in the vertex desktop program and have BOTH my units do lightning in sync. So I know it's possible but cannot replicate the process!

Please tell me someone knows how to do this!
Cheers
Christophe
