Barometric Pressure?

How do you replicate this in tanks? If you kill the lights for 72 hours to kill bacteria.

I'm not getting what barometric pressure has to do with lighting?

Well.. several post on here say " if you deal with red slime " turn your lights out for 72 hours. The fish will " think it's just a bad storm, and sleep". In reality.. when a " bad storm", hits the pressure drops.

Hmm interesting. Never thought of that. I don't think there is any realistic way to change the barometric pressure of the tank. I think the fish would be ok for a couple of days.

Also during a "bad storm" hail may fall, but you don't see anyone tossing ice cubes into their tanks. I think you're just taking the storm analogy too literally, the only connection people are making in it is the light and the effect it has on the tank inhabitants

Remember normal air pressure at sea level is 30" = 33' depth of water. A change in barometric pressure of 1" = 1.1' like a small tide. I think this is insignificant to fish and coral.
