What are these?
Some sort of egg?
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429907794.158809.jpg This is the second time I have seen them in my tank. Could a fish become territorial if they lay these? I have two Bangai cardinals and one of them got the crap beat out of him. Fine yesterday and practically dead today. All of his fins are pretty messed up. I moved him to the dump to hopefully protect him and give him a chance to recover. I'm trying to set up a fairly peaceful tank and have checked all my purchases here. Here is my stocking list: Bartlett's Anthias 2 blue neon goby's 2 bangai cardinal fish Chalk Bass x 4 Royal Gramma Yasha Goby 3 yellow wrasse Dracula goby with red banded pistol shrimp The Bartlett Anthias can chase other fish but usually the wrasses. As far I as I can tell, one of the neon gobies seems to be the most aggressive fish in the tank! It's a 140 gallon cube with about 100 lbs of live rock. |

Could any of the fish mentioned explain this?
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429909026.354700.jpg The way the cardinal is acting (I found him stuck to the screen of the vortech when it was on 30% I think he is a goner. All the fish were doing well and eating yesterday. |

I've never heard of any fish laying eggs on glass. Do a Google search for saltwater snail eggs or snail eggs in an aquarium and you will see many of them. I've got them all the time on the glass.
What kind of snails are in your tank? Also, I'd get rid of that mercury thermometer and get a cheap digital. Mercury if it got in your tank would be a bad thing. |

Turbo snail poop. I see it in my glass in the turbo snail trails. So I assume that's what it is or maybe it's eggs but I'm pretty sure it comes from my turbo snails.

I have dwarf and Florida ceriths, nassarius, and Nerited. It's a standard cleanup crew from reef cleaners. In addition, I have two fighting conchs.
Thanks for the mention about the thermometer. I have an electronic thermometer so will remove it. Question remains though...would any of those somehow cause a lot of damage to a cardinal fish quickly? I'm not sure what happened to the guy. |

I had a single bicolor blenny that one day popped a load of eggs on the front glass.
She must have gotten horny from all the clownfish sex she had to watch and had to relief herself This one was evidently a female but I still haven't figured out how to sex and make pairs of these guys.

Funny how many different fish where both male and female are so similar you can't tell the difference visually. Then there are others that it's easy to tell. Nature is an amazing thing. |
