I had a CBS for years in a smaller tank with a cleaner shrimp, small fish, including a wrasse that slept in the rockwork. Sure he'd grab at anything that came near and chase the cleaner but the cleaner was way faster than him, I couldn't imagine him actually catching it. Are you guys seeing the shrimp catch and eat these things or just seeing them eat it after it's dead and laying blame?

With a Coral Banded and a six line wrasse in your tank, it was only a matter of time until the peppermint went down.

Well I came here trying to figure out if I could get any other shrimp with the coral banded I picked up earlier today. The sites I looked at said they were good cleaners, and active, and 1 per smaller tank, didn't really say anything about the aggressiveness towards other species... Ummm, my decorator crab decided the whole thing for me... While I was reading these posts to find out more about the new addition I noticed some motion in the tank... the CBS became a not so cheap meal... So anyway, anybody recommend any shrimp... :'( ...learning experience.

Was curious as well so did a search on this board on this topic and came upon this old thread? Thus far from reading this thread, some have had success others have not. At present I have a CBS with hermit and emerald crabs and he ignores them. I also have two juvy clowns who have paired up and sleep together on the bottom of the tank, was worried they would become a meal for the CBS as hanging on the bottom at night as he's prowling ... well you know but they have not been touched as well.

My LFS has some peppermint shrimp for sale at just 4 bucks a pop so I guess am going to gamble. IF he eats him, guess it's a 4 dollar nutritious meal...

It isn't worth the gamble to me to get one. I purchased my peppermint shrimp to clean the aiptasia in my tank and they aren't doing a good job at all. SOOOOOO That flame hawkfish I have my eye on just might be added soon. Unless I can find a home for them.

My CBS is a role model. Love it to death. Never bothers anything in the tank.

Coral banded shrimp can and will take fish.
