Over the years it seems the same, everyone new/newish to hobby can't go big enough, and of course I was the same, my sig pretty much says it all for me.

I'd like to have 7' or 8' tank one day that's at least 30" wide and 22" - 26" tall with an attached frag tank. Now I just have remodel the house and move the dining table to the new addition and put the tank where the dining table was.

Well, this is an uncomfortable topic. My smallest tank is 240 gallons plus sump (80g) plus refugium (40g) plus frag tank (70g). But rather than upgrade, I got a second larger tank. Any additional upgrades means I would have to upgrade my wife. And that would be really expensive.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. My tank is a 210gal and I would probably prefer a 2nd large separate tank over a larger one.

I second this idea. Looking for just the right boat for two years now.

When I did that, I characterized the stocking very differently. Worked well for me. So I endorse that strategy (up to the point of spousal approval)

If I win a Lottery, then it is a whole different story.
But back to reality, I currently have a 120 gallons tank and I am pretty happy with it. If I can keep it going like that for many many more years, I would be pretty happy.

Anyone else ever think it might be awesome to convert a theme park wave pool into a reef aquarium? haha

I have no desire to have a tank larger than my 120. In fact personally I like the 120 footprint so much many larger tanks (but not all) are downgrades to me. Someday I might get a couple more tanks as a dedicated seahorse and a (separate) nem tank would be sweet, but I am in no hurry and they sure wouldn't be larger than 4ft.

This is kind of a mobius loop. If I got the size of tank that I want it would probably be the end of my life (as I know it), so...to keep things smoother in the house, perhaps I already have that tank. And a 300 isn't all that bad, after all.

Started with a JBJ 28g nano about 2 months ago. We had only had it 3ish weeks when he came home with a 180. NOW he wants to move so that he can start planning a 300. All the equipment for the 180 hasn't even all gotten here yet. It's a really really good thing I love it as much as he does.

Id love a 120-150g tank just for the choices of fish to stock it with a tank that size allows. Still, with that size tank and whatever size sump/fuge I would want, quickly starts getting up towards 200g volume.

It is already a pain to make water every week for a 5g change and a weeks worth of rodi topoff. The only way I could manage anything big is if I had the garage space to set up a automatic rodi system. The idea of making 20+g of salt water weekly + however much topoff you need for that volume is ./wrists.

Or, you know, just cheat and pay someone to come by every week and change water =)
