I think skimmer #1 is too big, I think you will be happier with a 6'' body on a 90 gallon tank, so maybe skimmer #1 but the 160 model if they make that one.

I agree that the diablo is too big and it probably will sit in idle most of the time. I had a diablo XS225 on my 100g and it was loud and didnt do much for me no matter how I adjusted it even with help from Coralvue. They told me it was too agressive for my tank but I was thinking get big for when I upgrade to a bigger tank, Ill be able to use my same equipment. I sold it and got an Omega 150 and I'm glad I did because its been pulling junk out like crazy and I can barely here it running other than a humming sound. Now I here my MP40 more than anything. The diablo sounded like a vacumm compared to the Omega 150. Not trying to promote vetex but I was so happy that I put an 130 onmy 58g and both are doing amazing. just my opinion.

If you like the RO brand you should check out the elite 150, would be good for a tank that size, I ran one on my 90 and loved it.

Look into the Aqua Maxx EM200
I do not believe into the adage of doubling or matching the manufactures rating to the size of the tank but rather what other people are using and are successful with, I have a 120 gallon tank and had a two 8'' skimmers on it on different times and I believe that both were too big for my system I now have a the Vertex Omega 150 on it. Almost all like that skimmer some people have complained about it but I like mine no problems. |

I'd recommend checking with Jeremy of CoralVue (on the vendor's forum). IMO, he is the SRO guru and will not steer you wrong. (Also ask about the real sump depth for the skimmer you're interested in as the advertised sump depth on SRO skimmers is usually way too high).
Good luck, Mike |
