What is this?
I've had this tank set up for about 3 years. But I just noticed some purple (kinda spiky) stuff growing on one of my live rocks... Any clue what this is?
Edit: It actually looks kind of cool, but I'm wondering if it's something bad. |

Looks like some sort of Foraminiferan...
Homotrema rubrum maybe... If so, it is a harmless filter feeder The ones that I have seen are normally more pink or red, but they can vary. Tough to say from the pic.
