Instead of a large water change I would do several smaller ones. With new salt mix of course. There may have been some die off which created a bacterial bloom. This can be cured by the use of a UV sterilizer.

Or there was an error mixing the previous batch and your SG is way off and you precipitated calcium carbonate. A sure sign of this is dusting on equipment. I would verify your refractometers reading with a second source and insure your tank is at the desired salinity.
