I got my first members of my clean up crew yesterday. In the end I got 10 turbo snails, 4 Nassarius snails, 3 blue leg hermit crabs. The guy in my lfs tried to sell me pepermint and cleaner shrimp too but I declined. Instead I got 10 ghost shrimp (which they sell as live food) which cost €1.50 for the 10. I also had a small impulse buy when I saw a piece of cured live rock in their live rock tank that had 8 blue mushroom corals on it, fits into my aquascape perfectly. Photos and video to follow soon.

So an update on my tank. Things seem to be going pretty well. I currently have 4 peppermint shrimp, 10 ghost shrimp, 10 turbo snails, 3 blue leg hermits, 2 nassarius snails, 2 conches and 4 clownfish. I also have some mushroom corals. It's looking great at the moment, a bit of algae but not much. Nitrates are up at 20 and phosphates at 0.4 so working on bringing both of them down using Red Sea NO3:PO4-X. I think I want to get a couple of zoa colonies next, should I wait till the nitrates are down before adding them? Any advice or suggestions on where to go next would be great

Here's a pic of my clowns, I'll have a new video soon.

Been a while since my last update so here's what has happened in my reef over the last couple of months.
My fish stock was 4 x Ocellaris Clowns, 1 x Foxface and 1 x White Cheek Tang. Unfortunately I lost my tang, investigation showed a spike in ammonia but I have no clue what caused it, everything seemed to be going fine just one day he was swimming erratically and a few hours later he was gone Everything has gone fine since and I plan on getting another White Cheek in a few weeks.
I have some nice mushroom corals and some xenia. I have read a lot of posts against xenia so I am planning to isolate it on an island at one end of the tank. I also have a nice sand anenome who has decided to take up residence at the back of the tank where he is out of sight so I'm trying to get him to settle somewhere at the front.

I decided to paint the back glass black after a lot of suggestions from people here. Here's a before and after of the first coat, I reckon another two coats and it should look great.

Before

After

Almost 10 months into my 120 gallon reef tank and things are going great! I have finally got my nitrates down to below 5 after being up over 20 with tonnes of cyanobacteria. Thankfully that's all gone now and has been replaced by patches of green hair algae which my yellow tang, foxface and snails are taking care of. My 4 clowns are getting along fine, one is getting much bigger so must be the female. They are all feeding well everyday. I have added some green star polyps, a toadstool and a hammer coral which are all doing great. The xenia is isolated on an island away from the main rock display and is growing nicely.
