Exclamation Copperband butterfly vs Emperor

Hey guys i just wanted to get some advice. i have a juvenile emperor who has only showed minimal aggression to one of the fish in the tank which would be my foxface, mainly just chasing the foxface around not doing any real damage. However i recently added a copperband butterfly to the tank and the emperor was not pleased to say the least. why is this the case? do the 2 breeds not get along? the fighting got to the point where i had to take the copperband out of the tank and move him to the refugium tank. should i try to put the copperband back into the tank?

My tank is 75G.
Fish: Emperor, Scopas tang, Hippo tang, Foxface, 2 clowns, Royal gramma. (tried to add the copperband)

Hypothesis: the foxface and the copperband are the newest members of the tank, im thinking the emperor was semi aggressive towards the foxface because the tank is to small for all the fish so when i added the then new foxface the emperor showed a little aggression. and when i added the copperband it pushed the emperor over the edge causing it to be very very aggressive towards the copperband.

Also will my copperband be okay in the refugium tank? my LFS where i bought the copperband doesnt open until wednesday (today being sunday June 21) so dont even have the option to return the fish even if i wanted to until then. hopefully i dont have to though because i really do like the copperband.

Everyones comments will play a part in the decision whether i keep the copperband or return it.

Thank you in advance for the advice and suggestions.

Your real issue is a Emperor in a 75g and he will only get more aggressive with maturation. Foxface will outgrow a 75g too

Don't forget the Hippo Tang that gets to over a foot long.

I'm pretty sure he is and I've added the Hippo Tang to the rehome list. Unless you buy a much bigger tank of at least triple the size of your 75

Im surprised the emperor has not killed everything in that 75, he must still be small. The hippo needs to be rehomed, since it gets to 1/4 of the length of your tank... If you have ever seen a blue hippo in the wild or in public aquaria you wouldn't put one in a 75....

Okay. Do it your way. Ignore everyone else on this site.
I have a feeling that once you get rid of the emperor the blue hippo is going to be a big problem.
Good luck

Another irresponsible ignorant hobbyist. Way too many large fish in a 75.

LOL...

Move him to a big tank...

Had ours in a 55 for years, never really grew much.

After a year in our new tank he has probably doubled if not tripled in size.

He has also increased 1000x in aggression...
