36 ppm tap water....do i really need filter?

my tap water looks crystal clear at 36 ppm. wanted to start a reef tank and wanted to know your thoughts about using my tap water or should i buy a filter.

36 ppm is still way too high for a reef, anything above 5 is pretty bad. Don't use anything except 0 tds water, be safe and buy an ro/di filter. Nothing in this hobby is cheap or fast but its much more enjoyable if you do it right.

I use airwaterices (theh2oguru) typhoon iii package, won it years ago and it works great plus it's not crazy espensive. Also easy to order replacement filters as they sell packs.
