Need to replace skimmer pump, can i use DC?

I need to replace my skimmer pump. The pump is a RIO pump and its been on the skimmer for about 3 years. It has always done the job on my skimmer but has always been somewhat noisey. Lateley it has gotten pretty loud so i was thinking of replacing it with a jebao DC pump? What do you think? The skimmer by the way is a proclear aquatics MPS 250. Thank you
