Experience with CerMedia MarinePure Biofilter Media Blocks?

I'm trying to replace 60lbs of live rock in my sump.

I just ordered 1-1/2 spheres for my sump. I think spheres are breather then block with flow around it. But that is mine preference.

I've had a lot of success with Seachem Matrix bio media as a LR replacement. I've used many products and this one hasn't disappointed me.

I bought a quart of the 1.5" spheres for my upcoming project but haven't used them yet. I've heard they're pretty good at turning ammonia->nitrites->nitrates. But there's always some nitrification (nitrate converting straight into gas form) that occurs deep within LR that these may not provide. I can't wait to test them out myself.

I bought 2 blocks 8x8x4 for my 260g. Have been in for about 10 days now.
How long do you guys think it will last till they get colonised with bacteria ? I do WC every 2 weeks and always put 2 vials of biodigest after it so hope this will accelerate the beneficial bacteria.

I'm curious to see people's experiences with these. I've used the Seachem Matrix stuff, pretty decent.

I've always enjoyed biomaterial more than LR.

It doesn't constantly suck up phosphates like LR.

About a month already still no change. Guess it's still very early.

Should I expect any change in no3 and po4 whatsoever ???
I'm a heavy feeder and this 2 are my biggest concern.

Anyone ??

I had 4 blocks they never droped my nitrates. I clean my sump yesterday and had to throw the blocks out because they were falling apart. im going to try the marix now.

They're not supposed to decrease NO3; They only really convert ammonia to nitrites and nitrites to NO3. If some NO3 does break down into nitrogen gas it'll probably be insignificant considering the amount of NO3 being produced in our systems every day.

I have really good personal experience with MarinePure. Just ensure that they are in an area where a lot of the water flows through it. And that it is submerged. When swapping over from already established live rock, you'd want to use established MarinePure as well. Otherwise it may take a while to see decreases in parameters due to the time needed to propagate enough microbes in the block.

Used correctly, it can definitely lower nitrates as well, to almost non-existent levels.
