Aquamaxx HOB-1 - How to Clean?

Hello all,

I've been running the HOB-1 for approx 3 months now and I think it now needs a full cleaning. I see debris in it and the skim seems to have lessened over the last few weeks. I've read about using vinegar etc but not really sure what type to use and for how long. Do I soak the skimmer or run vinegar thru it? Do I scrub the skimmer?

I'd like to do this during this weekend so any information is appreciated.

Thanks so much.

I clean my equipment with regular white vinegar, let things soak and run your pumps, scrub were needed. Rinse and like new.

I use straight vinegar and I let it run as needed honestly. I set it up in a bucket and come back later to take it out when I do a water change. I use the old water from the tank to rinse or if I made enough RODI I will use that. Either way so long as it gets rinsed it is all good...

I don't have any issues with the cup. I have a wire brush that works perfectly. Easier then some of the other cups I have had to deal with to clean.
