Help algae!!
Hi all
My tank is 3 months old, I am having an out break of algae. Levels are stable at zeros but nirates keep going up between 10-20. I'm currently doing 20% water changes each week. The algae is light brown small hairy dusty looking not like diatoms I don't think I try get a photo added Any advice please on how to get rid of it/ clean it and what type of algae it could be? My tank 270l with skimmer, uv filter, pumps, filter charcoal bag, t5 lights Livestock 2 clowns 1 royal gamma 1 chalk goby 5 damselfish 2 hermits 1 Halloween hermit 2 peppermint shrimps 1 sexy shrimp 5 turbo snails 5 nirtus snails 1 zoya coral Thanks Sheena Last edited by SheenaB; 08/05/2015 at 12:55 PM. |

I would start by checking Phosphates.

Yes I would definitely check phosphates and also if you don't already have one get a siphoning aquarium vacuum thing and what I did is I had an old store rewards card that I don't use anymore and I glued it to the vac part so it acts as a scrapper and vacs it up at the same time. And also I jus recently got a TLF hang on the back phoaban reactor and a small pump to go with it and it works great. So I would hook that up start scraping the stuff off the glass and see what happens
