Need help with RO/DI unit
Hey all! I'm new to the SW hobby and just got handed some new RO/DI equipment but I honestly don't know what I'm looking at! Haha so if somebody who knows what this is please drop some knowledge for me. I've only just started looking into RO/DI systems so my knowledge is very limited with this stuff so I have some questions:
Is this just a DI setup? Can I run this by itself? Do I need to get a pressure tank? What am I missing? (Obviously I'm missing the lines but any other key items) Does anybody have any links to the items I need? Last question. Could've been the first lol is it worth my time trying to set this thing up? Thanks in advance for the input! Picture attached |

Need help with RO/DI unit
That is an RO/DI unit. What differs from this unit more commonly used is the small "piggy back" DI canister. I would suspect you will get a very limited lifespan out of such small canister.
You will need an adapter to either tap into a faucet or water hose adapter. If you can hook it up to a water source you should be good to go! I would highly recommend a TDS meter that at least monitors output water. If this unit has been sitting I would replace the sediment and carbon filters. After a second look it looks like you have a new RO membrane(blue tube) and either a new sediment or carbon filter. I would change these first. Last edited by Mark75; 08/23/2015 at 02:13 PM. |

@mark75- can I get the hookups and water lines at a Home Depot or would I have to order them from an online store? I will use the extras to replace what is now in the unit as I do not know how long it has been sitting.
@gary- it doesn't state the Gpd or even he name of the unit anywhere. All the canisters are filled with their prospective media. I don't have a tds meter yet but I will be ordering one. Thanks for the link btw |

You may find what you need at a home improvement store. I use a "y" where my cold line for the washer comes in. You will need a push lock to garden hose fitting.
