$300 to Spend
I have $300 to spend and I don't know which to buy...
Skimmer, Apex Jr., or arctic T247 GO! Ps I already have a marsaqua 165w but I'm not sure I'm happy with it unless I spend another 80 on one to make 2 over my tank instead of just one. And I don't have a skimmer yet either. Tank is a 40 breeder with 20 gallon long sump. So......Skimmer, Apex Jr, or Arctic T247 GO!

Skimmer might be the winner! So I'm thinking a bubble magus curve 5 should do the trick?

Get a skimmer. You'll need another LED fixture over the 40b soon, I would grab a second next. Skip the Apex for now, it's a nice tool to have but you don't even have the basics yet.

Skimmer, though I don't know much about the ones for tanks under 100 gallons.

This is what I'd do. I'm hearing good things about the aquatrance pumps, and I <3 the old 110 nwb body, they seem to really take a beating. Plus that'd leave you enough for another led

Get the skimmer. Consider lights later (OR does have a good one). And learn to do everything your tank needs for a year or two at least before you consider a controller. IMHO they are SO OVER RATED! I have 4 tanks and wouldn't waste my money on a controller. They are just an expensive toy and certainly not something you need to waste money on when the budget is tight!

get a good skimmer first. try and figure out the direction you want to go and map out a plan for future equipment.

Get the skimmer.
On the light move it down to about 8" off the water and remove the lenses(it should be 12-15" off the water now). You may have to adjust the intensity of the light but you will get pretty decent coverage out to the corners of your tank with one light. And the lenses can be put back on when you have the cash for a second light.

Curve 5 is a great little piece of equipment. I am running a really nice Reef Octo unit on my 40 at home but if I had seen the Curve 5 before, I'd have two of them instead of just one.
And skip the controller - you don't really need one. |

Hey thanks for all the replies everyone! I am going to go with a skimmer for sure. I guess the question is which one now? Some like the Classic 110INT Protein Skimmer or the Bubble Magus Curve 5? What do you think?

They're both great. Personally I like how the Curve focuses foam a bit more but neither would be a bad choice. Go on looks, or flip a coin. Seriously
