Help me choose dosing system.
I just want accurate, good dosing pumps for 2-part and kalk.
I'm almost settled on a Litermeter 3 set-up but it seems like there have been no advancements in this product for years... Is it just that good we don't need to make it better? I look at the Profilux system and then the Kaomar(sp?) seems ok but i know little about that... Thoughts? |

I use the Profilux doser (older version, not the newer "2" model) and love it. Rock solid and not overly difficult to calibrate or program. Take it for what it's worth (not much I realize) becuause it's the only doser I've ever used, so nothing to compare it to personally.

I have a GHL Doser 2 and would not recommend it. I also own a Neptune DOS and if you own an Apex this is the way to go. I use a Litermeter 3 for my AWC. Solid and reliable, just no controller interface. If you want to set and forget go with the Litermeter. If you want to monitor and log, go with the DOS.

I do have an Apex system with alot of modules...
When searching on here however, I read negative things about the motors being loud, cracking and people saying the steppers burning out. The Apex was actually my first choice here but after researching it seems the Litermeter 3 just works and with dkh swings / spikes seemingly the ultimate destroyer of established SPS tanks I have been leaning towards the Litermeter. Profilux has always had a good name, maybe not so much anymore with the new doser... Has Apex fixed the issues with the DOS pumps? I think I read in a thread John, you had some problems of your own with the DOS? |

I have GHL Doser 2 as well, and I would not recommend it. Horrible and shameful software and inadequate customer service.

I like keeping it all simple and centralized. I'm using 2 of the BRS 1.1mL dosing pumps, and run them off of switches on my reefkeeper. If one burns out, they go on sale for $54, so I can buy 6 of them before I've matched the price of a DOS.
I love the idea of a stepper motor on the DOS because it will last forever, but the DOS itself has its own problems currently. And 3 pairs of BRS dosers will last a looooong time. If your only hesitation is that they don't always switch properly on solid-state relay switches, I've found that these single outlet adapters are allowing all of my low-power equipment to switch perfectly even on SSRs. |

Despite that issue I still think it's the best doser out there. They had a problem with the early pump heads cracking, but that was addressed. The pumps look to be the same made by/for Kamoer. Quality stuff from what I've read and the pump I would have bought if their 5 pump device was ready. Instead I bought a 4 pump GHL Doser 2 that would replace the DOS (moved to my frag tank) and also handle my AWC. The software and ease of use of the Doser 2 is not good. I'll take Fusion any day. I'm tempted to put my DOS and Litermeter 3 back with my DT and use the GHL for my frag tank.
