Active fish for a 10 gallon?
I recently set up a 10 gal with my dad and I initially started out with a firefish and a tomato clown since he told me they're good hardy fish (he had a 75g a couple years ago). Soon enough I learned my mistake. The clown looks a bit big in a 10 gal, not only that but he bullies the firefish, who is pretty timid already. I finally convinced my dad to take the clown back for some store credit so now the firefish has the tank to himself. I really want to get another fish in there and I know there's not a lot of stuff to put in a tiny 10 gal. If so I'd like something that isn't too timid or lazy (the firefish likes to hide in his rock tunnel half the time). Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a normal clown like a perc or an ocellaris, then again I'm not sure how well it would do in a 10g

I think the neon goby is a good option. Also look into a citron clown goby. I have one in a 10gal with a firefish and he's always out and about. He's a perching fish, but he moves from place to place a lot. I've also had a green clown goby, it's smaller, but also hides a lot more.
Neither fish is really aggressive to the other, but sometimes the citron will swim towards the firefish and the firefish just moves away. |
