Zoas growing on tank side

One day I may tear down my tank and upgrade. I have some nice large sized zoas growing onto the side of my acrylic tank. How do I remove and save them without getting sick? What should I do when that day comes?

Take an old credit card or something along those lines and peel up the matt and tgen just use your fingers to pull them off. Wash hands with ssoap and water after and your good to go.

Why would you get sick from scraping zoanthids off the glass?
Don't eat them and you'll be fine.

Is it best to do this while they are submerged first?

Yeah, they seem to slime up when out of the water which makes them harder to grab a hold of

Many corals produce toxins that are best washed off your hands before touching anything else. Palys are the worst as far as I know, but zoos can be somewhat dangerous as well.

I have a friend who was fragging palys and then rubbed his eye and that caused serious problems for him that lasted about a year. For many months he was nearly blind in that eye as his vision was super blurry.

I don't treat corals as toxic or even really harmful. I've been in the hobby for about 15 years and I've never had an issue other than a jellyfish sting. And that happened while I was snorkeling, not in my tank. But then some people are much more sensitive to these kind of toxins than I am, just like mosquito bites and bee stings.

You don't actually have to touch them for it to be dangerous, either. I know somebody that ran hot water over some palys and the vapor put him in the hospital for a few days. Very serious stuff. When you wash your hands, rinse with cold water first, the hot water was the problem I think.

I would use a razorblade holder plastic one and remove them put them on the sand bed or rock and wait 2- 3 days then mount them to frag plug or rock.
