Thanks Mike,

well noted its the double cone 180 and not mini BK 180. yes, this one is with RD3 pump, great! but I have to check the footprint as I think 290 x 360 mm seems to be much larger than my existing skimmers which is just 330 x 200 mm. although It still can fit the space but I have to removed my zeovit reactors then.

by the way, this double cone 180 is for tank with water volume up to 160 galon or 640 liters while my exisiting jns SK-2 is rate for 800 liters......not unless JNS SK2 oversizing their specs? I wonder if BK also do the same..then this skimmer should be less efficient than my existing one?

hope you further guide me here too.

cheers,

MD

MD,
It is my understanding that BK does NOT over state their skimmers. They tend to be right on the number.

Looking for right skimmer

Thanks !

Good to hear BK don't over size their specs. I just hope if I buy this double cone 180 it will not like almost the same of my existing SK2.

Don't want to make trial and error and hope to have the right Skimmer for me.

In fairness to JNS SK2 it also do a good job but I really don't have any idea how good the job was done since I am not sure if it is skimming well and no other comparison not unless I have the next one .

For your better references may be you can help me assess if this exiting SK2 is function well;

This is the reason I wish to have more advises from you guys !

By the way any one can also give some suggestions and ideas between RLSS 8ri vs BK double cone 180? As it looks almost the same specs (if I am not wrong) but price wise is quite a big differences .

Cheers,

MD

Dear All,

Thanks for everyone that participate In this posting for my quest to select the right skimmers for my tank!

Initially I am comparing between Deltec SC 1455 vs Bubble King

Now I have slim down my selection to BK double Cone 180 as you guys suggested

But I want to make one more comparison and selection before final answer cone out

How about comparing between ;

RLSS r8i vs BK double cone 180?

I will not pay more attention on the foot print as I think if I got the right skinners what the heck of building a new sump and enlarging few more centimeters for extra room!

What the heck of the price different as I want the one and only (no more looking) skimmers for me .......just like I got a not successful marriage and now looking for the right girl that I would like to live for life......haha ! When my wife saw this kind of description certainly my head will be off!

So guys out there! Please help me out with your value advises between these 2 brands (skimmers type )

Thanks for your participation .

Cheers,

MD

In all honesty I would lower the bubble level a little & then compare.
I think you will get a darker less wet product by doing so.
The amount collected by the bottle is in my opinion does not warrant a drain, it can be handled by the cup. Remember a clean skimmer will work better than a dirty one, so I opt just to empty the cup clean it & put it back on every week.
I would work with this one for a while.

Thanks Vinny,

So you mean that I just put a stopper on the drain of the cup and let it handle the dark skinned water instead of putting a Plastic bottle like what I do?

Understand you advise of lowering the bubbles and Do dry skimmed . Yah , Zeovit system prefer dry skimming .Thanks again !

Right, just let it accumulate in the cup & clean it on some type of schedule.
I do weekly water changes & cleaning the skimmer is on the "To Do " list.

Looking for right skimmer

So , just look on the skimmate and color of the dirty waste water of my skimmers , can you tell if it is working well for my tank? My N and P are 0.20p and 0.03 ppm respectively and the skimmer produce such amount of water per 3 days or so.

Not sure if the bubble level was low enough or not . Anyway , 2 days after cleaning cups , The following is today's recording ;

Been so busy with work , Will find time to replaced the plastic bottle and put a stopper as advise herewith.

Hope to have your valued advise and comment .

Cheers,

MD
