Frag tank help
Thinking of purchasing a wave line dc10000 or 12000. Would that be strong enough to feed a refugium AND a 20 gallon long frag tank?
Originally was going to plumb a standalone refugium but decided it's probably better to keep my refugium in my sump (fed by the return pump) and make another T which feeds a frag tank. For the frag tank, unsure if I will be drilling for an overflow or using a CPR hang on, which begs the question about how much flow would I need? 800g overflow gives me 40x tank turnover along with any powerheads I put in, so I would need a pump that can feed 800gph to the frag tank...or I can get a small overflow, say 400gph and use say 2 rw-4's to make up the difference. Or am I not understanding something?

Are you kidding? A DC12000 is able to do 3000+gph. That would turn your 20g frag tank 150 times an hour. I have a DC12000 running a 65g shallow reef and a 25g frag tank from a 125g sump/refugium. I run it at top speed, but it's close to being too much.
If you are going to use the CPR siphon overflow, get the big one, AND do the small RW4 powerheads. You can always run the big overflow at a lower rate. Having water move from a variety of directions is always a good thing!
