New to sumps and overflows. With a little bit of luck I am going to try and transfer my 25 gallon tank over to a new 40 gallon breeder this weekend. I am thinking in their near future to go with an overflow box and sump. No I do not want to drill for a want to set up my tank now. I know nothing about running a sump so for an overflow box I see there are ones with tube (s) and ones without.
Also in gph which would u suggest for my 40 gallon? The main reason I'm thinking of a sump is to purchase a better skimmer than a hang on and keeping my system cleaner and more efficient.....

The flow rate of the overflow needs to be able to handle the pump flow rate. And there are countless thread about flow rates for the sump to display tank.

I prefer Eshopps brand, have used them for more than 20 years with zero failures or leaks or flooding.

I like Taam Rio pumps for the price, quietness & reliability.

Thanks. I was looking at maybe installing it externally but not really sure yet. Also something that has an adjustable flow rate or is that even needed? What of my pump has too much flow? Back to more reading.......

No other thoughts on setting up an overflow box? Trying to think of what to use for a sump other than the obvious. |Whatever it is too be im thinking about no more than 10 gallons. I have my 25 but I don't want to go that big. Weight on the floor is a concern for me.
