How far up do I hang my light?

Hi guys,

I have a new tank and not sure how far my light should be up. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to buy 2 of these lights but I have the Ai hydra 52.

Tank dimensions are 4ft x 1.5ft x 16ft deep.

Thanks in advance

I would say 6 to 12 inches, adjust as needed. i don't think you will get full coverage with just one hydra52 for your tank. I have two on mine and it's about 8inch above water.

Thankyou. I have placed the light offset to one side for now over my Corals.. And on the other side a big red note to the wife asking if I can get another one.

If you can find a cheap blackbox dimmable full spectrum you can use that for now..that's what i did until i could get a second hydra and it worked fine. Then you can that as a spare or for the refugium..

Be very, very, very sure to protect it from splash: LED units and water do not mix.

With a 16 foot deep tank you are going to need alot more lights.

That's a fantastic idea.. The Mars aqua ones on ebay look like they do the job for a few people on this forum.
