Brs vs Two little fishes gfo 150
Which reactor works best for you. The Brs gfo single gfo reactor. Or the Two little fishies gfo 150 phosban reactor? What do you like, as far as their setup and method of media change out? Thanks in advance for your help.

I find the BRS Rx to be somewhat of a pain to change out media but it's sturdy. The TLF stuff is pretty cheaply made but easier to change out media IMO.

The next reef MR rxs are the easiest and nicest ones I have used.

I don't agree the TLF reactors are cheaply made. Mine has been working flawlessly for almost 5 years and not even an O ring has worn out. They are fairly inexpensive making them one of the best in the bang for your buck category. They are easy to refill. Except for the rinsing of the GFO, a change can be done in minutes if you want.
I mean, a reactor is just an acrylic tube with water running through it. It doesn't move, has no moving parts etc. We don't use them to break open coconuts or drive nails. I found the workmanship & operation to be just fine. Replacement parts are very inexpensive and readily available from MD, BRS and the like. The only "iffy" design element IMO is the rubber "L' connectors where the soft plumbing attaches. If you're hanging the reactor off the back of s tank or sump, there is a theoretical possibility of water dripping if they were to wear out...but mine look brand new after all this time. But I guess this could happen on any brand unless it is mounted in the sump. |

I have used both. I would say the BSR due to the fact that the inlet of water comes with an adjuster for water flow. I would buy an extra container for the GFO. Nice to have a backup.

TLF has been working fine for me. No mess to change media as long as a 3 year old isn't doing the maintenance.

Yeah these L connectors have leaked on me in the past. I find the TLF to be fine but certainly not as nice as some other products. A good value but not super nice.

My TLF 150 came with a flow restricter included & it works well. This reactor works with a very modest pump. Depending on the amount of media used, a limp as small as 5 watts will work. |

Thanks everyone for your input. It seems like both units are well liked.
