Im looking to put and old 55 bowfront back in service, need to find out what I need to do. Sterilize or any suggestions, also is the old sand ok to use with some new live sand?

A good soak with vinegar and water is all you need for the tank. As far as the sand goes, if it came right out of a system, I would rinse it well, till the water runs clean, and use it. If it has been sitting around for more than a couple of day, I personally would just go with new sand. Also, I would not go with the bagged "live" sand. I think it's a waste of money. Instead, I would go with the dry sand, and get a couple cups of sand from a fellow reefer to seed it.
