Pearlfish in my tank?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the hobby and have had my 24G Nano Cube up and running for a almost 6 months. I purchase the package from Tampabay Saltwater which has been amazing! But before I digress into how great TBS is, I woke up this morning with what I think is a pearlfish in my tank?!

Does anyone know 1. if this is what the fish actually is? (attached pic) or 2. are they reef safe?

The only thing I found was they live in sea cucumbers and come out at night to feed. I've had this LR for over a month and this was the first time i've seen it!

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

C

I'm not sure, - it does look like one.

What I can say is that is a very, very neat hitchhiker!!

I have no clue what it is, but it's certainly an awesome hitchhiker!

Thanks everyone, yeah he's hiding again so hopefully I can get some better views whenever it comes out!

Not a great video but maybe anyone can recognize what this is based on how it moves?

I'm thinking more like a pipefish which are pretty common on this part of the gulf coast. Very, very cool fish.

That is just crazy. How neat to go look in your tank and then be surprised by that. From that picture and comparing them to others, it does look like the pearl fish.
