My thoughts RW-8
I have a 56 gallon tank that needed a new power head. My Hydor 750 was struggling and I wanted to upgrade the flow. My wife likes the tank but isn't all the excited about the cash I spend on it so I need a budget solution. I purchased a new Jebao RW-8 and the controller for the Apex. Would love to have vortec or tunze but they aren't an option.
The RW-8 is a huge difference than the Hydor 750. Flow is stronger and the undertow is great. I have it running at 50% since 100% moves sand around. Controlling it with the Apex is great and simple to program. Not sure on longevity yet so it might bite me in the end but so far I'm more than happy. |

I've had a pair for a year now powering my 40B. Great for the first 6 months, good for the next 4, but currently they seem to have about half or 60% of the push they used to. My new stick tank has a RW15 running it but I'm tired of pumps slowly dying every year after the last couple years now, so it's time for some 6095s or 6105s to replace the entire set.
Enjoy the pump while you will. I've had 4 RWs so far (5, I guess - 2 4s, 2 8s, and now a 15) and they've all done well. They aren't intended for long-term use, however. Buy and replace, buy and replace. |
