The Virtues of Internet Search...

Quite often if you will simply set your search on your browser, spell carefully, try it with scientific names as well as common, and use more than one browser, you can find pix and very detailed descriptions of various fish, inverts, diseases, parasites, algaes, and problems that you run into.

You ask why we mods know stuff. We don't always know stuff. And we don't always stay at Holiday Inn...But we do know how to use our search engines.

The Virtues of Internet Search...

On this topic. One thing that helps me is that the search function within Reef Central is often confusing and doesn't exactly get me what I am looking for so I will search on Google "Nitrogen Cycle Reef Central". Adding reef central to the end lists all the threads about that topic and the search function seems to work better in Google than through RC. Hope this helps.

good tip.
RC's search is often overburdened. We can't compete with the Big Engines, and they CAN help you a lot. I'm always amused when Google routes me right back here to one of my own posts on a topic.

If you use site:www.domain.com you can tell Google to just give you results from a certain domain. Might help if you know it was on rc but forum search would not find it.

180 liter, sumpless reef, no skimmer for the moment.

Current Tank Info: Juwel VISION 180, currently only invertebrates, planning to have low bioload as I have no skimmer and no refugium for the moment.

If you're trying to ID stuff...go to images.google.com and type the best descriptors you have.

For example; a very common question is "what is this crab????" Go to images.google.com and type crab hairy legs black tip claws. Boom. Gorilla Crab.
