Yellow candy hogfish for pests?

I've got a barebottom tank and I'm looking for a wrasse that's good for pests and suitable for BB. Are these guys known to be good pest hunters like the halichoeres genus ones? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking, or making a statement? Hogfish are members of the wrasse family, but not all wrasses hunt for pest type prey. Some are planktivores. I'm just wondering if these hogfish typically eat pests.

You would be better off with a wrasse from the Halichoeres genus. The Yellow Candy Hogfish is a planktivore.

A dusky or a yellow wrasse are probably the best choices.

I just ordered one today from DD, can't wait to get it

I know they eat pods and bristle worms, I'm pretty sure they'll eat flat worms too.

You can always put a little sandbox wrasse bed in a bb tank. People use Tupperware, or get more creative. I think most halichoeres require a few inches to sleep in.

Oh that's definitely what I meant by bucket lol. Not going back to sand. I have a black leopard in our 300 right now, which is also bb. Sand is in a tupperware behind the rocks. Started about 4 inches deep but whenever he buries to sleep he throws the sand around. I've refilled the tupperware a few times and now there sand strewn all over the tank. I was trying to avoid that, but this will be for a 120 so it should be easier to clean.
