Hydra 26 Lighting Settings Question
I am new to the saltwater hobby and am in the process of setting up my tank. Here are some particulars about my equipment and what I'm looking to do with the tank. It's a 90 gallon megaflow tank with a Trigger Emerald sump, AquaMaxx ConeS CO-1 skimmer, Tunze ATO, and about 90 pounds of dry live rock, and 25 pounds of real live rock. I am in the process of setting up a mixed reef tank that will have a few (<10) fish. I have 2 AI Hydra 26 LED lights. As lighting on the reef is very important, I would like appreciate your help and assistance with getting my lighting set up correctly. Also any recommendations on how long I should have the lights on would also be appreciated. I thank you in advance for your help!

Congrats on getting your new tank started. I have a 110 that is similar dimensions (I'm assuming 48x18), just taller. I mounted my 26s centered lengthwise on each section between the center brace (Mine are about 11" above the water line, but people have varying preferences here.) I've attached a picture to help illustrate too.
Lighting duration, intensity, and spectrum opinions will vary greatly, so there's not really a magic answer for that. Although there is a dedicated AI Hydra thread in the lighting and filtration section here where you can poke around and get some ideas. Good luck! |

You are correct as to the dimensions of my tank. As with most things in this hobby, there are few black and white answers....which makes it tough when beginning and trying to do it right. My lights are set up 10" above the tank. Thanks for the tip on the dedicated AI Hydra thread. I will check it out.
