Sump refugium
So the tank I bought came with a drilled sump. After all the pvc is attached, the skimmer, return pump, and heater their isn't room for a refugium no baffles. I was wondering could I put the biggest plastic bin that can fit in the bottom with some sand and rock and have a make shift one. Looking for a spot for pods to thrive away from the main tank. If plastic is a problem I could throw together a acrylic one. I'm thinking a box about 5" tall, water in the sump is aprox 8+. Ideas

A lot of people do what you are describing with Rubbermaid tubs, etc. If you are questioning plastic because of toxicity, look at the numbered recycle code stamped on the container. # 2, 4, and 5 encompass a lot of general use items, which are fine. Stay away from 7.

Not sure how much room you have, but I would entertain something you can see through. I really enjoy watching my fuge and the life it permits. I would not want to perform maintenance on something I cant see into (from the front). So why not a 10g tank or a custom acrylic fuge? I run a lifereef fuge and love it. It sits next to the sump and exits back into it.

I would love a Traditional refugium. Inside the stand is zero room. In the sump maybe a 8"x8" think its just a poor design. With the sump being drilled. I was thinking of a hang on back one. But not sure exactly How it would fit into the system.
