Red Sea Max 130 Micro Bubbles
Hello,
I have recently set up a new Red Sea 130 tank, and have been up and running for about a month. My problem is that the tank water refuses to clear. I suspect that this is caused by micro bubbles that are spewed out of the return pumps. I bought the tank used so I really don't know if something is set up wrong or missing. I have live rock in the tank, and the skimmer is running. Otherwise I do not have a sponge/media in the tank to catch detritus (However I do have carbon in the tank already). Would a sponge help? If so, where does it go in the tank? I have seen diagrams showing on top of the skimmer pump, but I am not sure. Thanks for any advice, Stu |

Look to see if the skimmer is spewing bubbles to where the return is sucking them in. Looking at the filtration diagram for those, it shows a sponge sitting in the pump chamber directly above the pump.
