QT tank ammonia spike

So over the weekend I was able to transfer my 2 clowns out of QT and into main tank....So to keep rolling I picked up 3 green chromis to start in the QT....well I noticed a day later my sea hem ammonia alert was not as yellow as it had been...I did a 40-50 percent water change BEFORE I added the Chromis...after the "alert" I did another 50% change..the ammonia alert is still showing right between .02 - .05 ...the fish seem absolutely fine and are eating and swimming around just fine...

Am I overthinking??

Was the tank cycle? If not its going to spike a you add more fish to generate more waste. Try some bio spira

I didn't "cycle" the QT...I have some bio spira I used to cycle my DT...can I add to QT while fish are in? The clowns did fine with no issues at all..
