Does T5 lighting irritated eyes?

My wife complaining that T5 fixture stresses her eyes.... Is there any danger that the fixture could damage her eye/vision? Thanks

yes, its very possible that t5 could be causing eye stress. It is very diffused and unlike natural daylight. Migraines are a common side effect I had with running t5. You can play around with bulbs, that can help..more blue(basically actinic) the better(less strain) for me it seemed.

no danger though, if you haven't had the fixture long, I would give its some time and see how her eyes adjust

Unless she stares directly at them for long periods it's not going to cause retina damage or cataracts. But...they are blue heavy, and much brighter than most the typical lights we have in our homes so it'll be a bit stressful to look at if you're not acclimated. My wife had the EXACT same complaint when I first started up in the hobby. Complained the daylights were obnoxiously bright and gave her a headache, and the dawn dusk actinic look was too much like neon lighting in bars and pubs. Took some getting used to.
