Auto Top Off question

Ok will be hooking up my tunze osmolator 3155 tomorrow. Now do most of you keep the optical eye and float on the same mount? Or do you mount the optical eye at water level and the float up higher then the point your water would go if return pump was shut off?

Float higher up. It's the second safe guard in
Case the eye doesn't work. Third is it shuts off in 10 mins

the magnetic pucks that you'll use to mount your optical sensor also has a mount for the float switch which holds it a hair above as well. been working just fine for me.

I kept mine in the same mount. If you have a heavy power out or feed mode back flow. You might want to separate them. So you don't have to listen to the alarm .during feeding or maintenance.

k
Question about the 10 minute auto shut off feature:

Does it reset to normal operation mode after X hours? Or is the unit off until you physically reset it? Can this feature malfunction and work against you somehow during a vacation for example?

I only have the nano osmolator, but I would assume the larger unit is the same. I have to physically unplug the unit for 2 minutes for it to reset after a timer trip shut it off.
