Mp10 dry side hot / wet side spinning

One of my mp10 dry sides was really hot and the wet side was slowly spinning in circles. I took off the wet side and put my spare on and seems normal again. I did try to adjust it multiple times before swapping out. The wet side wasn't overly clogged/dirty etc. Any thoughts on that? I cleaned the wet side and put it away as my spare but wondering why it would do that and if it's junk now.

Thanks! Steve

Couldnt tell you what is wrong with it, but I have heard of the wetside have issues with the magnetic connection. Motor is working harder to try and spin it which is probably causing the heat. Like I said no good details for you, but it sounds like a bad part to me. If its still under warranty I would call Ecotech

Tanks glass thickness?

The mp10 is only rated for 3/8(9.5mm) glass. With that said, I have mine on 12mm glass and although the magnetic connection is a little weak, it works just fine and doesn't spin the wet side while at 100%.

Had the same issue. Turns out it was a defective wet side. Spun fine just made the dry side very hot. It happens.

Did you have to toss the wet side?

Glass thickness is fine. I've had 3 mp 10's running on this tank for about a year now. I have an mp10 on a 40g breeder with even thinner glass. Maybe I'll try the wet side on that tank to see if it's better. I bought this stuff used and the wet sides are getting pretty old. So may just need to be tossed at this point. But I'll give it one more shot.

Thanks for the replies.

Yup, bought a new wet side which fixed my problem.
