Diatoms or brown algae?

Just set up a new Current LED light and the algae has exploded. Are these diatoms or brown algae? FWIW, I have the blue channel on 50% and white on 24% for 12 hours a day. Should I change this? Also I have 5 hermit crabs and 1 turbo snail.

looks like diatoms to me. may want to cut back on how long your lights are on and see if it improves. it would be helpful to have more info on the tank. how long has it been up and running? is the tank still cycling? what are the water parameters?
