Found some macro. Good stuff
Well after 15 years I find this macro growing in a chamber of my fuge. Is this
Culerpa? I've never knowingly introduced anything but chaeto. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk |

What? That sounds horrible. There is no trace of it in my display. Something must be eating it?

I had a very similar discovery:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2577575 To this day, I still have no clue how it got started. Apparently, it can stay dormant in the crevices of rock/frags. Mine started with a small patch on one of my sump baffles, and like you, I also could not see any in the display tank. I manually removed the patch from my sump and increased Magnesium levels for a couple of weeks. This seemed to do the trick. But here lately, I have noticed a couple of strands on 2 of my display tank rocks, so I'm back to increasing my Magnesium. My LFS claimed that a Lawnmower Blenny would gobble it up, so I bought one.....and it won't touch it. I would glance over some of the advice given to me in that link above, and like they say - Take immediate action! It will spread and it can become a nightmare. GL!

Wow. Didn't sleep well
After reading this is took a closers look and found this stuff behind my overflow grate.... Good news is that something in my display must be eating it. It's only on the back side of the overflow. Going to kill the lights in fuge for a few weeks and make sure no light is hitting inside the overflow. |

I've had Bryopsis in my tanks before and what you have looks a little too thick for Bryopsis. Looks more like some type of Caulerpa to me also.

I've had a rabbit fish and orange shoulder tang eat it, or what I assume was it. Yours might not be bryopsis, usually grows thicker than that. A size reference would help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Caulerpa is much larger than hair algae, which makes me think it is bryopsis.

I still think it's Bryopsis because it looks identical to what I had/have.
