cant decide between corals

hi y'all,
im getting some sps corals from Uniquecorals.com (my favorite site)
and i need some help picking them out.
here are the coral options. i can only take one which one should i take on account of it's hardiness, fast growth, price, and coloration? i have 20k leds.

1) Green Slimer Acro 1" $32
2) ORA Tri-color Valida Acro $38 1.5"
3) ORA Verde Acropora $38 1.5"
those are what i've narrowed it down to.
im also getting a 3 piece montipora frag pack for $38. (great deal no?)

thanks for the help,
Gaultier

I would go with the Green Slimer. REally fast grower, looks good and is fairly hardy.

all 3 are nice but I will say I think all sps tanks need a green slimer . Go ahead and get it now and can do others later. They grow decent, bright green and seem to be hardy.

Valida is nice ( I have had many) but I will say they are magnets to pests like flat worms & red bugs. Just be careful & make sure you dip.

Ouch. That might ruin it for me. However, i have no acropora currently so i dont thinj i run much of a risk.

Should i not take it?

valida

I'm struggling with my Valida, I'd go with the green slimer or a stylophora.

Be careful where you mount the montipora's they can take over a rock.

Just mount them on an island rock.

Howard

Howard, are you struggling because they are a hard species or like the way that some people strughle with zoas and stuff? Just a coral that doesnt like your tank.

how long has your tank been up? if you are new to the saltwater game sps might not be a good choice. took me many years handle them.

I've handled lps and softies before. My tank is extremely stable and my parameters are consistently perfect

I also vote for the green slimer for a first SPS.

I'd go with the slimer also. Very hardy, fast growing and stunning color. Nothing against unique corals they are a great company with great corals but you might be able to find someone local to either give you a piece or sell you one cheaper. Almost every SPS person has it and as mentioned before it grows fast. Mine has doubled in size since I got it in March. It's still only about 4 inches with a few branches otherwise I would hook you up free of charge. I love to see young reefers with the passion to take on SPS.

Actually, there are a new set of ideas. I talked to UC yesterday and the kanager said that he would sell me 2 acros ( blue vermi and aussi yello) and 2 pocillaporas ( a pink and a neon green and red) for $48. Is this a good deal? Cause if i take it, i will not take the montipora pack. Chances are i'll negotiate the corals in that pack a bit though. I have a $70-80 budget.

Thanks

Seems like a fair deal and if you like the corals, absolutely go for it. It is your tank A good money saving introduction to sps is usually Birdsnest > Monti > Easy Acros > Whatever you want.

i would go with these over the monti pack. Do you have a LFS near you? Most of these like the slimmer and monti's should be at most LFS for at least similar or better price. Plus no shipping.
