Skimmer suggestion for 120g

Ok time for yet another skimmer thread. In the process of upgrading from a 60g to a 120g with 30g sump. My JNS ConeS CO 1 isn't going to cut it. Looking to spend under $350 for a new skimmer. Stuff I've had my eye on

AquaMaxx ConeS Q-2
Bubble Magus Curve 7
Avast Marine peg leg 180
Also considering getting Reef Dynamics 135 from the leftover stock Jeff is selling. Always loved ER/RD skimmers because they just seem to work.

Also open to other stuff I may not be thinking of in my price range.

I have a 120 also, but I am using the Aquamaxx CO-3. Aquamaxx are very durable and quiet, IMO. Also might want to check out the Simplicity, starting to hear good things about it. Fits right into your budget.

Reef Dynamic skimmers are great with a tried and trued design. the only thing they lack is an efficient pump.

The RD skimmers he's selling now look like they have a sicce instead of the old sedra

Any other suggestions? Was also looking at the Tunze 9410.

Also trying to decide if I NEED a new skimmer. The CO-1 is rated for tanks up to 175g, but I know they totally overrate these skimmers. It only draws 360 l/Hr air, which is likely pretty low for over 120g water volume. I'd love to not spend any more money right now though.

I decided to go with one of the Coral Box D700 skimmers and was pleasantly surprised with the performance. It was significantly cheaper (~$200) than the alternatives so I figured it was a risk but so far it has paid off. It keeps my 120 (40b sump) clean and pulls very consistent skimmate.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look.

Anyone have any opinions on the IceCap K2 line of skimmers? They look really nice, but there isn't a whole lot of feedback on them.

If that were the case, I'd go with the RD

Leaning that way. A little reluctant since really the skimmers aren't made anymore so not sure how much support I'd get. It's $299 so it's not like rock bottom pricing. . Appears it's the company that purchased Reef Dynamics that is selling the surplus off with improved pumps. They do have an assortment of replacement parts as well. I guess if the pump goes Sicce are always available.

I purchased the INS 80 & 135 from the left over stock. $179 & $199 respectively. The acrylic thickness, and construction is outstanding. Jeff Macare used schedule 80 pvc for the buil. The pumps are Sicce PSK 600 & 1000.

I am currently running AquaMaxx EM series 200 & 300, since early 2013. If I ever have to replace them, the RD will take their place.

Wow $199. If it was that price a few weeks ago I would have bought it in a heartbeat. It was $299 at that time. I ended up with an Avast Peg Leg 180 which is very nice.
