MaxSpect Gyre XF150 users?
I have a standard 75 gallon. It has a 2" sand bed and two LR island. Currently I have strategically aimed two Jebao RW-8's and an RW-4 that recently stopped working. I am considering replacing the Jebao's with a Gyre XF150. But have some questions.
Is it a reliable powe rhead? How long has it been running? How often does it need taken apart and cleaned? Is it going to kick up a ton of sand on the the opposite side of the tank wall? Would you recommend or buy again? Should I look into other PH's in the same price range that can be angled and adjusted? |

I've owned two of them. A 130 on my old tank (used it for almost a year, sold it with the tank.) and a 150 on my current tank (110g tall), which has been running for almost 6 months now.
Reliability/cleaning - No issues with either powerhead, I just clean them every 2-3 months. No issues with blades getting damaged either like some people have (Newer ones have more rugged blades.) They come with a spare set of cages/blades too which is nice. Sand - I have/had very fine sand in both tanks and it can stir it a little depending, but it also depends on how high it's turned up. Looking at the pic of your tank, I don't think you'd have much issue (Probably run it around 30-40%, I'm guessing.) IMO, they work well when complimented with a secondary powerhead to add a little crossflow. Leaving one of your Jebaos in might work well with it. Some people have issues with dead spots depending on rock layout, etc., but for me it works quite well. Also has a low profile and looks nice and clean in the tank like the Vortechs.
