New lighting
I am planning on starting a new 40 gallon tall saltwater tank. The tank is 24 inches tall and I would eventually like to have SPS corals. I was wondering what kind of lighting would acomplish my goal of doing this. Any help would be appericated.

I am still a big fan of metal halide with T5 supplement. Depending on where you live heat could be an issue but it's plug and play with proven success. Just T5 is a good second option also.
I like led fixtures, they are sleek, cool running and possibly more economical to run. I still think that you need to supplement with T5 just for getting a diffused light source to reduce the harsh shadow of point light sources. Sent from Second star to the right*and straight on 'till morning"

T5HO? Absolutely.
24inches is a bit of a deeper tank, so either up your lighting or keep higher light corals in the upper zones.
