Need Help Setting Up New Aquarium
I had planned on getting a new fish tank recently, between 15-30 gallons, and I wanted to know what I need for a new aquarium. Is it too much to ask for a list of what I need for setting up a new reef aquarium from scratch? Please include costs as I am on a budget... Thanks!

What kind of aquarium do you want. This will affect what equipment you will need.

There's some really good info on setting up a tank in the stickies. Once you decide on what to get, compile your list and post it to have others check it out in case you missed something

This is what I have in my 14g BioCube
75w Heater-13$ Penguin PowerFilter-30$ T5 2ft 4 Bulb fixture w/bulbs-$120 Hydor Circulation Pump-27$ Salt..really depends on brand and bulk I do ReefCrystals 200gal-50$ +w/e you want to spend on LR/Sand/Tank-70$ or so best guess This should be a start but keep in mind most would consider this to be a TERRIBLE setup absolute bare bones. Do water changes often if you decide to go this route...often being 30% or more once a week IME. I have a biocube with this stuff but I added filter floss which I change every other day and a corallife skimmer. Tanks been running for 6months no issues 3 Damsels, 1 Pepermint Shrimp. I feed 2x a day some small food. Coral in the tank is limited to some Zoas, Star Poly and a Xenia tree oh and I just added a mushroom coral...all super hardy corals IME. Good luck and there are WAY better setups this is just the tightest budget fix I could think of. |
