Help DIY PVC drain gutter led light
Doing joeys led light strip with PVC and drain gutter, my problem is the PVC started to get heated and the PVC started to bow down(bend). Wondering how I can prevent this bowing of the PVC to happen. I had a drain gutter, spray painted the outside, reflective tape on inside, mounted PVC pipe to the drain inside, wrapped the led light strip to the PVC. The PVC ended up bending. Any other ideas how to fix my led light strip onto my tank? Can I use something other than PVC to prevent the bending?

Whats a joeys led light strip with pvc/drain gutter?
Sounds ghetto.. If the PVC is overheating you need to move the heat source away from it or shield it.. But since I have no idea what you are doing I can't offer any valid suggestions.. And PVC can give off very toxic gas (dioxins,etc..) when heated/on fire.. So Don't do that..

Just because I'm handy doesn't mean my output is ghetto

Ok so do you have the supports shown at 6:00?
Have you tried increasing the number of supports to better "support" the pipe to prevent it bending? You could replace the PVC with aluminum tube from home depot,etc.. It would keep the LEDs cooler too.. Its like $10 a tube.. Check out the shower rods too.. cheap.. aluminum..tube..$6 That makes it really "DIY" and handy and just the right amount of ghetto http://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-B...4016/205699635

Or schedule 80 PVC instead of the 20 he suggested.

Pvc has a very low mwlting temp. Even the black abs would be better. I like the aluminum suggestion.

I thought the supports were for the drain bending...gonna try the PVC schedule 80 because mine seemed really thin and small. If not then I'll try the aluminumm. Y'all have really helped thank you!!!

What are you going to use this for?
I hope it's a FOWLR or as an addition to good leds because that isn't ghetto, it's trash if you are trying to keep corals under it.

No way, haha it's fowler. Just like the different LEDs I can set. Mostly the blue night look. Will my live rock be okay with this light?
