Question about New Tangs

Hi RCI just put 2 yellow tangs into a 120 gal. Suggestions about the number of yellow tangs that can be kept in this size tank vary so I chose to do what I wanted and felt semi comfortable.
At this point in time, the tangs seem to be feeling each other out with quick hits and rushes at each other.
Is this something that will subside with time or are they going to be continuously picking on each other ?
Would a mirror help things.
Tangs a lot.

A mirror might help, but IMO, two yellow tangs in a 120 is just asking for trouble until one is dead.

That made me laugh!

I have two yellow tangs in my 300, not really by choice it sort of happened due to circumstances. Given my choice, I'd never do it again. My tank has two distinct rock formations and one YT controls one pile and the other controls the other.
I don't know how your rock work is laid out so changing that might help.
Honestly some days they ignore each other and some days I think they are going to fight to the death.
I'd try the mirror if I were you, can't hurt anything, but I suspect long term you are in for trouble.
Good luck!

The mirror may work for a while, but I would be looking for a new home for one of them.
The aggression will continue due to lack of territory.

Yep, one needs to go. It's also recommend that you do 3 YTs, for a chance to work, but your tank is not big enough for that.

Yes, I've read that with Yellows you need to do odd numbers. As said its a tank size problem and some reefers make things work outside the box. Good luck.

i would not be optimistic that the aggression will subside, in fact my YT has actually gotten MORE aggressive as he has grown. this is in a 6' tank as well, with no other tangs, and he still feels the need to be an absolute knob to some of my other fish.

if i had to do it all over again, i would pass on the yellow tang altogether.
